The average lifespan of a sump pump is around ten years. Once your sump pump begins approaching ten years of age and experiencing frequent repairs, you will likely need to have JW Heating & Air replace your sump pump with a newer one.
Any time your sump pump will not turn on and run, unfortunately, you have a major issue on your hands. There are actually a number of reasons that your sump pump may be experiencing power issues including the float switch being stuck or broken, a jammed impeller, a potential loose electrical connection, a burnt motor, or your sump pump has just plain hit the end of its lifespan. Whatever the case, if your pump is older and not running, you may need to think about Pro Sump Pump Installation and Replacement Services from JW Heating & Air.
Contrarily, if your sump pump is always running, and never seems to turn off, this is also an issue! This is normally due to a float switch issue, which will need professional assistance from JW Heating & Air. If your sump pump is not turning on at all or running constantly, repairs can be possible, but you may need to start thinking about replacing the machine completely.
Any time your sump pump is making loud noises such as grinding, banging, rattling, or vibrating, you are almost guaranteed to have a serious issue. These noises are indicative of a problem with your sump pump and will require a diagnosis from JW Heating & Air in which you may want to consider fully replacing the sump pump all together.
Irregular cycling of your sump pump can occur for a multitude of reasons such as a broken float switch or the float valve being too low. No matter the case, irregular cycling, particularly in conjunction with any of the other listed symptoms, is never a good sign and will need to be addressed by plumbing professionals at JW Heating & Air as soon as possible!
Debris can naturally flow and build up in your sump pump, leading to a pretty severe clog over time! Clogs can damage the impeller fan in your sump pump which will detrimentally affect your system. Additionally, the pump line hose can also become clogged with sediment and debris, causing major issues for your sump pump. No matter the issue, you will need to consult with JW Heating & Air about repair and possibly replacement options.
Unfortunately, many homeowners get taken advantage of by inadequate plumbers around the area, leading to incorrect installation of their home’s sump pump system. If there is no water in the pit but your sump pump is still running, your sump pump was likely installed incorrectly and will need to be corrected and potentially even replaced by the plumbing experts that you can trust at JW Heating & Air.

The 40-year-old heating system at my mother-in-law's house failed a week before Thanksgiving. We had used JW 5 years ago for our house and they did an amazing job. They were our first call for our current issue. Roberto, our service technician, came out and was kind, professional, courteous, and gave us outstanding service. He couldn't solve the problem with the unit on the initial visit and went over and above to find replacement parts and devise a solution- including rearranging his schedule so that he could attend to our needs as soon as possible. Ultimately, the old unit could not be repaired and I spoke with Eric to explore other options. This is a company that takes pride in providing outstanding service and hiring amazing people like Roberto. I'm a big fan of this company and will use them as my first call for any of my heating and air conditioning needs.

Recently I had a plumbing safety inspection done. Kevin came to check things out. My water lines were in good shape. He then proceeded to inspect my gas lines under the house. He found leaks in some of the lines. Kevin showed me videos of a test he performed, which showed the gas escaping. He was patient and very professional as he explained everything he had done and exactly what he found. The visuals he presented helped see exactly what he was talking about. He proceeded to talk to his supervisor, and it was decided to turn off my gas for the night. I appreciated Kevin's concern for my safety.First thing the next morning Kevin, his supervisor and the manager all showed up. They conducted one more test that confirmed the leaks, showed me those results, and gave me options. These options were explained fully to me. They gave me plenty of opportunity to ask questions too, making sure I understood exactly what each option entailed. I didn't want to mess around where gas was concerned, so I chose to replace and redo the entire gas lines.Kevin continued to be a most caring person, and saw the entire project through, start to finish. He explained the inspection procedure to me, and even cleared his schedule to be here when the city came to do their inspection.I was extremely happy with this experience. Kevin went above and beyond, which I appreciated immensely. He was professional, as well as caring, courteous and respectful.

There are pluses and minuses to working with a large company. In our case we did a complete HVAC upgrade. The teams were very fast and efficient. We had few other companies give us bids, one was a little lower and a couple were a little higher. The only downside of this, is that all the teams do their thing and it doesn't appear that they know what the other teams have to do or is done. This was a really big job, and there were a few glitches along the way. The team we worked with was outstanding in the quality of work and the time it took to do the job. Eric, our project coordinator was exceptional. He listened to what we were trying to achieve and showed us many options to get there. Once the work was completed, he came by to set everything up and make sure we were happy with the work done. We went from a system that couldn't keep up with the SoCal heat to a house that goes as cold as we want. I don't think our experience could have gone better, a great company to work with

It can be a very good idea to have a backup sump pump for times of crisis. If your home experiences a flood, your backup sump pump will take action and could prevent a lot more damage than what may already occur, saving you a lot of valuable time, stress, and money.
The average life expectancy of a sump pump is typically around 10 years. Have a JW Heating & Air expert perform maintenance on your sump pump at least once a year to significantly lengthen your pump’s lifespan.
It is normal for your sump pump to run continuously. Sump pumps run, or “kick on,” as they are needed. So, if you notice it seems like your pump is running all of the time, there is a reason for it. It’s important to note though, if you suspect your sump pump is running more than necessary, or any time you notice any abnormal behavior from your pump, call JW Heating & Air to have it serviced. You can never be too cautious!
No, your sump pump will most likely not work if the power is out in your home. Most sump pumps require electrical power to operate. You can however, install certain devices like a battery backup unit which will operate a secondary pump using battery power.
Yes, you will periodically need to clean your sump pump. While sump pumps don’t have filters, you will still need to clean their openings or screens from time to time – at least every few months. Additionally, if necessary, you may need to oil the pump’s parts. It’s important to have an expert at JW Heating & Air perform yearly maintenance on your sump pump as well. At this time, they will be happy to help clean your sump pump, as well.

Alex Amaro did a great job on my furnace tuneup. Great photos of my unit — which was in tip top condition. New filter ordered. Thank you!
