There are a lot of factors that can go into a water main line replacement, such as age for example, but some of the most common signs and symptoms that your water main has a break in need of replacement include:
If there is a clog or break in your water main line, it will affect the water pressure in your home. When a clog or break is present, less water is able to move through the pipe, and therefore not able to make it to your plumbing fixtures, such as shower heads or sinks. Decreased water pressure is a very common sign of a broken water main.
Has your monthly water bill randomly increased? If it has and you notice any of the other symptoms listed here, you may have a clog or break in your water main. When there is a break in the line, it will often waste excess water, causing a significant increase in your monthly utility bill. If you notice that your water bill has increased out of nowhere and you are experiencing at least one of these other symptoms, you should call our team about replacing your water main right away.
If you have wet patches or pools of vibrant grass throughout your lawn, you likely have a water main line break. Pooling water and a foul odor from the water is an almost always an indisputable indication your water main has suffered a break. Call us for expert help immediately before extensive damage to your home and main line become worse.
When a water main breaks, dirt and debris can get inside of the pipe and eventually in your water supply. Because main lines are underground, toxic and hazardous objects can leak into your water supply, resulting in you and your family becoming sick. If you notice that the water from your sinks, bathtubs, and drains appears to be discolored and fragrant, you may have yourself a main water line break!
Another sign that your water main may be in need of replacement is unfamiliar, loud noises coming from your plumbing when it is not being used. If you notice water moving or other random plumbing noises while these appliances are not being used, there is an issue that will need to be resolved within your water line.
Lastly, if you notice that many of your toilets, sinks, or shower drains are constantly getting clogged no matter how much snaking or store-bought drain cleaner you use, your water line is either clogged or has broken entirely. This can also happen if your sewer line is clogged or broken as well. Either way, you will need to call in our experts to help determine whether a repair or replacement is necessary.

The 40-year-old heating system at my mother-in-law's house failed a week before Thanksgiving. We had used JW 5 years ago for our house and they did an amazing job. They were our first call for our current issue. Roberto, our service technician, came out and was kind, professional, courteous, and gave us outstanding service. He couldn't solve the problem with the unit on the initial visit and went over and above to find replacement parts and devise a solution- including rearranging his schedule so that he could attend to our needs as soon as possible. Ultimately, the old unit could not be repaired and I spoke with Eric to explore other options. This is a company that takes pride in providing outstanding service and hiring amazing people like Roberto. I'm a big fan of this company and will use them as my first call for any of my heating and air conditioning needs.

Recently I had a plumbing safety inspection done. Kevin came to check things out. My water lines were in good shape. He then proceeded to inspect my gas lines under the house. He found leaks in some of the lines. Kevin showed me videos of a test he performed, which showed the gas escaping. He was patient and very professional as he explained everything he had done and exactly what he found. The visuals he presented helped see exactly what he was talking about. He proceeded to talk to his supervisor, and it was decided to turn off my gas for the night. I appreciated Kevin's concern for my safety.First thing the next morning Kevin, his supervisor and the manager all showed up. They conducted one more test that confirmed the leaks, showed me those results, and gave me options. These options were explained fully to me. They gave me plenty of opportunity to ask questions too, making sure I understood exactly what each option entailed. I didn't want to mess around where gas was concerned, so I chose to replace and redo the entire gas lines.Kevin continued to be a most caring person, and saw the entire project through, start to finish. He explained the inspection procedure to me, and even cleared his schedule to be here when the city came to do their inspection.I was extremely happy with this experience. Kevin went above and beyond, which I appreciated immensely. He was professional, as well as caring, courteous and respectful.

There are pluses and minuses to working with a large company. In our case we did a complete HVAC upgrade. The teams were very fast and efficient. We had few other companies give us bids, one was a little lower and a couple were a little higher. The only downside of this, is that all the teams do their thing and it doesn't appear that they know what the other teams have to do or is done. This was a really big job, and there were a few glitches along the way. The team we worked with was outstanding in the quality of work and the time it took to do the job. Eric, our project coordinator was exceptional. He listened to what we were trying to achieve and showed us many options to get there. Once the work was completed, he came by to set everything up and make sure we were happy with the work done. We went from a system that couldn't keep up with the SoCal heat to a house that goes as cold as we want. I don't think our experience could have gone better, a great company to work with

The amount of time it will take to replace a main water line depends on the size and complexity of the repair. A small and simple water main can be repaired in as little as six to eight hours, whereas larger and more complicated repairs can take several days to a week to complete. If you need to replace your main water line, have a JW Heating & Air certified plumber assess your water line and give you an estimate of how long it will take to replace as well as a price quote.
To be certain that your main water line is broken, you will need to have a professional plumbing expert from JW Heating & Air assess your water main. Indications that your water line may be broken are increasing water bills, low water pressure, and soft spots in your lawn. If you notice any of these issues, call JW Heating & Air to look at your main water line and give you an estimate.
While it is possible to replace your own main water line if you still have old galvanized steel pipes, it is highly recommended to have a certified plumber from JW Heating & Air handle the job. Replacing a main water line is a very complex process that could potentially affect your entire neighborhood if done incorrectly. Our certified plumbers at JW Heating & Air have the knowledge, experience, and expertise in repairing water main lines and will even provide you with a quote before doing any repairing or replacing.
The most commonly used type of pipe for a water main Polyvinyl Chloride Pipe (PVC). Benefits of PVC piping material include that it’s inexpensive, lightweight, durable, corrosion resistant, and nonreactive with most chemicals.
PVC water main line pipes can last as long as 100 years. PVC pipes are highly resilient towards freezing conditions and meet the majority of pipe requirements. While water main line pipes can last as long as 100 years, the average water main starts failing around 50 years.
In order to figure out what size your main water line should be, you will need a professional plumber from JW Heating & Air to figure that out for you. Water main lines tend to be complex plumbing systems and our plumbing experts at JW Heating & Air have the tools, knowledge, skills, and experience that most homeowners do not have access to.

Alex Amaro did a great job on my furnace tuneup. Great photos of my unit — which was in tip top condition. New filter ordered. Thank you!
